— In-game description
"As an Ewok, your hunter's instinct and familiarity with the moon will give you an advantage over the Empire. Retake the forest!"

"As an Imperial Stormtrooper, your superior gear and numbers should make surviving until the morning's extraction a trivial concern."
— Stormtrooper spawn screen

Ewok Hunt is a limited time, 20 player game mode in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront II that was added in the Night on Endor Update. It pits Ewoks against a team of Imperial stormtroopers who are awaiting their morning extraction off Endor.

Overview

In this mode, player-controlled Ewoks are trying eliminate a team of Imperial Stormtroopers before their extraction shuttle arrives. The mode begins with only two players as Ewoks, the rest Stormtroopers. As more and more Stormtroopers die in the dead of night, they will respawn as Ewoks, icreasing the amount of Ewoks present on the field, increasing the Ewok team's chance of success.

Ewoks have access to three unique abilities, those being the following:

  • A grenade that explodes into a swarm of damage-inflicting fireflies that follow after and deal damage to nearby Stormtroopers.
  • A horn that, when sounded, will increase all damage dealt by the player for a short while at the cost of causing very audible noise and locking the player in place until the activation animation has fully played.
  • A "hunter's instincts", that highlights nearby Stormtroopers as bright red silhouettes (even through surfaces) and also highlights the routes they have taken as a trail of red footprints.

Additionally, besides being in third-persion view, Ewok players have an easier time navigating the Ewok Village map since they have a different, brighter map lighting than the Stormtroopers.

The Stormtroopers are in total darkness, relying on their weapon's flashlights they have and any light provided by Ewok lampposts. Each Stormtrooper starts with a standard E-11 and 200 HP, however, they only have one ability: to turn on/off their weapon's flashlight, which periodically requires to be cooled down and any health lost due to Ewok attacks (primary weapon only) will not regenerate.

The Stormtroopers are not completely without assets, however; throughout the map, special weapon caches can be found which allow players to exchange their E-11 for a DLT-19 with unlimited flashlight and an Incendiary Grenade that provides light and burns Ewoks that touch it.

It takes an average of seven minutes for the extraction shuttle to arrive. In that time, the Stormtroopers must stand their ground and work together as a team to fend off the increasing number of Ewoks with the dwindling amount of teammates that remain. They must also avoid any traps that are scattered throughout the map, which can be triggered by walking through a knee-high trip wire. Once the time limit has been reached and the shuttle arrives, the landing site will be highlighted on the map, and all surviving Stormtroopers must make their way to the landing site before the shuttle touces down. When the shuttle finally does touch down, the Stormtroopers will have around 10 seconds to board it before it has to depart. If the player does not manage to board the shuttle in time, they will not be credited as having survived despite not dying to the Ewoks.
