The Unknown Regions are a region of space in the galaxy of Star Wars. Due to their nature of being largely unknown and unexplored by the inhabitants of "the known galaxy," the planet that is seen in the Unknown Regions has no known name. While the Unknown Regions are of course not a planet, they functionally serve the same role in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront II.
Overview[]
The Unknown Regions refer to the vast swaths of space in the Star Wars galaxy beyond the Outer Rim Territories, which are unexplored, uncharted, and foreign to the inhabitants of the "known regions" of the galaxy. Thus, the Unknown Regions serve as a source of wonder, tales, and mysteries to the people of the Star Wars galaxy. After the Galactic Empire was defeated by the New Republic in the Galactic Civil War, many Imperial loyalists, officers, and war criminals fled to the Unknown Regions to escape the watchful eye of the Republic. These loyalists eventually regrouped and formed the First Order, dedicated to overthrowing the Republic and restoring the Empire.
A First Order capital ship, a Resurgent-class Star Destroyer, is in orbit of an unknown planet and surrounded by an asteroid field when it is caught in a trap set by Resistance forces, who proceed to attack the Star Destroyer. The Resistance forces make their way up the Star Destroyer, destroying various objectives and fleeing transports until attacking the bridge head on, all the while weaving around the asteroids.
