Heroes vs. Villains is a game mode featured in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II that centers around combat between the heroes and villains of the games.

DICE's Star Wars Battlefront

Overview

This game mode features all hero and villain characters from the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire. Teams of six must keep their three heroes or villains (four in the Outer Rim variant) alive while destroying the enemy heroes or villains of the other team. The heroes or villains are supported by infantry, two of which can spawn as bodyguards.

This game mode is round-based in a best of three fashion; there are five rounds, although if a team wins three consecutive rounds, then they will win the game. During the game, players play either as a hero, a villain, or a soldier on the battlefield as they try to destroy the enemy team's heroes or villains. Whenever a player playing as a hero or villain dies, they respawn as a soldier. The first team to defeat the enemy team's heroes or villains earns a point. Each round swaps out those who play as a hero or villain and a soldier.

There is a timer that is present throughout the game mode. The timer for the players choosing of a character lasts for 30 seconds, and the time to kill the enemy team is a total of 3 minutes. If the players don't kill the enemy team within those 3 minutes, the game will be considered a draw. However, the result will also be judged if any heroes were killed on the player or enemy's team, meaning if at least one or two heroes on the enemy team were killed, the players team will get the score, but if more heroes were killed on the players team, the enemy will get the score. If both teams have an equal amount of heroes when the three minutes are up, the game is also a draw.

Overview

In Star Wars Battlefront II, Heroes vs. Villains has been redesigned from the previous version of Heroes vs. Villains. This game mode features all hero and villain characters regardless of the era of the Star Wars films they originate from, and instead are divided among the Light Side and the Dark Side.

The match is fought by two teams of four players. All four players are able to choose from a roster of all the heroes and villains in the game, though only one hero and villain can be played at a time. There are no infantry soldiers or bodyguards; when a player is defeated, they respawn as the hero or villain they chose unless they choose another available hero or villain that is not already being played.

Both teams start with ten points; one living player on both teams is randomly chosen to be the "target," or VIP. The first target to die loses their team a point, so the targeted player must be defended while the targeted player on the enemy team must be attacked. The first team to destroy the enemy team's target ten times wins.

General Grievous Update

  • Fixed issues that allowed multiple players to spawn with the same Hero in Heroes Vs. Villains. Among other fixes, the "Change Character" button is now immediately unavailable after a death to prevent this.
