Kessel is a planet featured in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront II. It is most famously known to be home to spice mines, which are mined by the criminal Pyke Syndicate, with the support of the Galactic Empire, using slave labor. It was added in an update as part of the second part of The Han Solo Season.
Overview[]
Kessel is located within the Akkadese Maelstrom in the Outer Rim Territories. The criminal Pyke Syndicate uses slaves to mine the planet's spice and hires smugglers to complete dangerous "Kessel Runs" to transport the illicit spice to their customers. The Pykes also mine coaxium, or hyperfuel, on Kessel. While working for thief Tobias Beckett, Han Solo took part in a heist to steal coaxium from the Pykes for Crimson Dawn. Years later, the planet became a battleground between the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire in the Galactic Civil War as the Rebel Alliance extracted stolen coaxium from the planet.
