  • Hello There Lamosq,

I have recently been trying to earn some more badges to my user, such as "Make 250 edits on articles" and "Add 10 articles to categories", and I've been wanting to create a category page known as "Items unlocked through Milestones", which does not yet exist, where you can find pages like "Old Master" and various Infantry weapons. But I do not yet know how to make a category page, and I was hoping for some help. Do you just go to "Add category" on a page and write one out, and boom, that category page now exists? or is there some further process behind it?

    • Hey Sisu, that sounds like a good category. Yes, you can create a category by clicking "Add category" and writing one out. Additionally, you can create categories when you are editing an article by typing out a new category in this little box. Technically when you do either of those things, the category page itself does not yet exist, even though the page has been added to that category already (you can see this with Category:General Grievous Update). You can create a category page by clicking on the category after you've created it. It should take you to a page titled Category:category-name. There should be a button to the right of the title that says "Create", like so. When you create a category page, you can add a little description about the category, but you don't need to. After you've created a category page, it will show up in the future as a category suggestion when you try to add other articles to it. I hope this helps.

  • Hello there!

I've had some complications, and I thought you might be able to help.

I want to have a userbox container, but I wasn't able to get it to work. For some reason, all the userboxes were duplicated, and I couldn't do anything to the container itself.

Also, I saw the tabs on Anakin_Skyobiliviator's page, and would like to replicate that.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    • Hey TheGoodGeneral, by userbox container, do you mean something like I have on my userpage, where I have my userboxes all contained at the bottom of an infobox? I use a custom infobox, so I can show you how to make a container that way if you also want to use a custom infobox. If you want to add a userbox container to the Character infobox (the infobox you are currently using), I could try adapting the Character infobox to include a userbox container, though I'm not sure if it might work. I will have to do some playing around with it.

For the tabs that Anakin made, all you need to do is use Template:Parent Tab Template. The documentation page does a pretty good job of explaining how to use it, but basically you put this in the source editor (I'm not sure how you would input the values for this template on the Visual Editor):

      {{Parent Tab Template
      | tab1 = value1
      | tab2 = value2
      | tab3 = value3
      }}

with the value being the name of the subpage itself, e.g. if I wanted to make a tab that links to User:Lamosq1027/Workbench, I would put the code:

      {{Parent Tab Template
      | tab1 = Workbench
      }}

      onto my userpage (User:Lamosq1027).

Note that the Parent Tab Template only works for subpages of the page it is currently on, so if you put it on your userpage (User:TheGoodGeneral 1), the name of every page you want to make tabs for would have to start with User:TheGoodGeneral 1/.

There are some other parameters you could put to customize the appearance of each tab, such as bordercolor. The documentation page goes into more detail on how to do that.

Please let me know if anything I said is confusing or unclear.

    • The tabs worked perfectly! Thanks so much.

I found a userbox container template in the Templates tab, however, when I pasted my userboxes, they were all duplicated. Also, I couldn't find a space to put in colors like on the userboxes themselves.

I wasn't planning on having it inside the infobox; I imagined it being in the same spot as where my userboxes are now.

      Thanks again for the help.

    • Hey TheGoodGeneral, sorry for the delayed response.

I'm glad the tabs worked for you. Regarding the userbox container template, I see what you mean by it duplicating everything. It must have something to do with the template code, though I'm not exactly sure what yet. I'm currently testing it on my sandbox. I will get back to you once I have figured out the issue with that particular template, and see if there is a spot I can include customizing the colors of the infobox.

  • According to the community central I have to go either Special:ListGroupRights or Special:ListAdmins, but once I put these on a website what do I do from there?

  • I have been trying to get around the wikis like everybody else does since yesterday, but for some reason I can't submit my edits, use the search tab (on the screen where things like FANDOM, GAMES, MOVIES, etc. are on), and other things. How are you doing this stuff so easily?! It's not fair!

  • is their really a differene between admin and bureaucrat

      Loading editor
    • Bureaucrats can promote other users to bureaucrat (including admins), and do stuff like change the name of the wiki. Other than that (and maybe a few others things that I don’t know), they don’t have that many differences

  • Hello Lamosq,

Does going out of bounds on a certain map to get to point A to point B count as a glitch if point B is not accessible without going out of bounds?

  • Hi Lamosq,

Don't know if you're the right person to be asking, however, for a while I've made a few guides/tutorials for a game called Kingdom Two crowns and have added these to the Wikia for this game to provide a video alternative to the information, and these have been generally well received. I try to keep my videos as informative as possible so that they are useful guides as opposed to opinion pieces. I was wondering if you think those sorts of videos would have any place on the Wikia for battlefront. I've made one for BB-9E as a test for what they'd generally be like and would love to know what you think.

    Thanks

    • Sorry I thought I'd responded already. Sounds good, then next video I'll work on will probably be bb8, though if there are any topics you think would be good to cover, I'll be happy to look into them. Just as a note, I only work on videos in my spare time, so I usually only make around 1 video a month. Will you add the video to the BB-9E page or do you want me to?

        Loading editor
    • I understand, that shouldn't be a problem. For now, I think heroes would be a good focus, but if you're ever feeling like you want to change it up, then I think covering weapons would be a good idea too. I'll add the BB-9E video, but in the future feel free to add the videos to the wiki when you upload them on your channel. Best of luck Possanto.
