The '''Sonic Blaster''' is one of the special weapons available to the [[Empire]]. These guns fire magnified sound waves at an opponent. These waves travel relatively slowly, so you will have to watch your aim,go for the head if you do hit, it is almost always a kill, although this is hard to do. If you hit some orther part of the body then the damage of your gun is minimal. its range is also something to keep track of, this is a low range gun and is best for small crowded corners like Death Star or Polis Massa. It is a very powerful gun against units, and can fire pretty fast, making it (and it's corresponding unit) worth using.

In Star Wars: Battlefront, the damage is the same as a regular rifle or pistol bolt, however there is a long cooldown time of two seconds before another shot can be fired. Also, the projectile is slower than a normal blaster bolt and needs to travel before it can hit. Its range is generally the same as the clone trooper pilot's DN Bolt Caster.

Star Wars: Battlefront II

Sonic 2

In Star Wars: Battlefront II, the damage is increased heavily, taking only three shots to kill an infantry unit. The bolt doesn't have a distance to travel, making it seemingly instantaneous. This also makes it seem like there is no range limit on the weapon. The cooldown time for this version is only one second.  The amount of shots per magazine is seven in this version.

Trivia

  • In the first game, the bolt from the sonic blaster is quite easy to dodge since it has limited range and also is slower. This makes Geonosians very ineffective in combat and are best for holding command posts.
  • In the PlayStation 2 port of Battlefront, the particles for the sonic blaster, as well as for the LR1K Sonic Cannon, create a distorted effect around the particles.
  • In the Xbox 360 port of Battlefront, the particles for the sonic blaster, as well as for the LR1K Sonic Cannon, are dark green and yellow compared to the PC and PlayStation 2 ports.
  • In the PSP version of SWBF2, the Geonosian can be implemented using mods. They carry the standard sonic blaster which has a 2 second cooldown time and deals high damage. Their damage radius is large, so even if you don't hit an enemy, you can still damage them.
