Swbfii-halloween-moseisley — Special events temporarily change the way the game is played, such as allowing only night-time maps

Special events are periods of time, often a weekend, in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront II where core gameplay is altered or limited-time content is made available to players upon the completion of limited-time challenges. Special events are detailed monthly in a Community Calendar published on the game's official social channels.

Special events began about one year after the release of Battlefront II, in September 2018.

Event types

DICE SWBFII Young Solo blaster — The "No Match for a Good Blaster" special event only allows blaster-welding heroes to be played in Heroes vs. Villains

There are several types of special events that temporarily change core gameplay, reappearing every few weeks:

Heroes Unleashed: Greatly decreases the Battle Point costs of heroes to 500 and increases the max amount of heroes that can be spawned on each side in Galactic Assault. This event allows up to 9 players on both sides in Galactic Assault to spawn as a hero, allowing for 9 vs. 9 hero battles.
Fast Spawn Event: The respawn timer is reduced to 1 second. Can apply to all game modes, or just a few.
Boots on the Ground: Only trooper units, including Reinforcements, can be played. No vehicles or heroes, with the exception of November 2019's Boots on the Ground with Vehicles and February 2020's Boots on the Ground with Heroes^[1]. This event can apply to Galactic Assault, Capital Supremacy, or both.
Foot Soldiers: Only trooper units and heroes can be played. No vehicles. This event can apply to Galactic Assault, Capital Supremacy, or both.
Elegant Weapons/No Match for a Good Blaster: Restricts the type of Hero that can be played in Heroes vs. Villains. Emperor Palpatine is unplayable in either of these events.
XP Event: The amount of XP earned for playing a trooper, vehicle or hero is greatly increased, accelerating the rate in which a unit can be leveled up. Can apply to all modes, or only a few. As of July 2019, there is a Double XP Event each Wednesday.
Battle Point Event: This event decreases the Battle Point cost for different types of Reinforcements and/or heroes in a game mode or set of game modes.

In addition, there are two event types for when new content, such as an Appearance, can be earned by completing limited-time challenges:

Timed Quests: Complete a limited-time individual challenge to earn the reward item.
Community Quests: Complete a limited-time community challenge to earn the reward item. Community challenges are challenges that have an extremely high criterion, e.g. capture 10,000 Command Posts, and whose progress can be increased by all players.

- Midweek Boost: Double XP set every Wednesday! Modes affected: all modes.
- Special Event: Triple XP (Feb 28–Mar 2): It's the start of a new month and along with it comes an healthy dose of Triple XP progression! Modes affected:
- Farmboy Luke Quest: It's not Impossible (Mar 6–9): Eliminate 150 enemies in CO-OP to receive the "Farmboy Luke" Appearance. Modes affected:
  - Co-Op
- Princess Leia Quest: May the Force be with you (Mar 13–16): Hit 15 enemies with Leia's Alt Fire to receive the "Princess" Appearance for Leia. Modes affected: all modes.
- Special Event: Triple XP (March 13-16): Additional weekend of Triple XP not listed in the Community Calendar.^[3] Modes affected: all modes.
- Special Event: Unlimited Power (Mar 20–23): 9 Heroes available per side. 75% off Battle Points cost for Heroes, Reinforcements & Vehicles. No spawn timer. This is Unlimited Power! Modes affected:
  - Galactic Assault
- Special Event: Triple XP (Mar 27-30): Increased XP yields for faster ranking progression. Modes affected: all modes.

2020

February 2020:^[4]
- Midweek Boost: Double XP set every Wednesday! Modes affected: all modes.
- Fast Spawn Event: Assault Modes (Jan 31–Feb 3): Spawn Timers will be set to 1 second for the duration of this event within Assault modes. Triple XP also active! Modes affected:
- Battle Point Event: Heroes Unleashed (Feb 7–10): The chaotic event that sees the maximum amount of heroes on each side available for play, at 75% off their normal BP costs. Modes affected:
  - Galactic Assault
  - Capital Supremacy
- Battle Point Event: Boots on the Ground (Feb 14–17): No heroes or vehicles will be coming to aid you in this weekend's Battle Point Event. (Heroes were confirmed to be staying this month.^[1]) Modes affected:
  - Galactic Assault
  - Capital Supremacy
- Battle Point Event: Reinforcements (Feb 21–24): Lower Battle Point cost for all reinforcements and increased numbers allowed at any one time. Modes affected:
- Special Event: Triple XP (Feb 28–Mar 2): Inreased XP yields for faster ranking progression. Extended to March 4 because of server issues.^[5] Modes affected: all modes.

January 2020:^[6]
- Midweek XP Boost: Earn double the amount of experience as usual in all game modes every Wednesday of the month.
- 14 Days of XP (3rd-6th): Earn triple the amount of experience as usual in all game modes.
- Fast Spawn Event: Fast Spawns (10th-13th): The spawn timer in all game modes is reduced to one second, allowing for nearly instantaneous and immediate spawning after being eliminated.
- Battle Point Event: Reinforcements (17th-20th): Battle Point costs for Reinforcements are reduced by 75% in all game modes.
- Night Ops (24th-27th): Maps across all game modes can be played in a separate "dark mode" map rotation, and fast spawns are enabled in Assault game modes. Also, Triple XP is enabled for this event.^[7]
- Extra triple XP (31st-2nd of February): As the BB Update was postponed, a weekend of Triple XP was enabled in its place.^[8]

2019

December 2019:^[9]
- Note that the Boots on the Ground With Vehicles event will still run until the 2nd.
- Triple XP (5th-7th): Earn x3 XP across all game modes
- Exact Revenge (from 6th): Capture 15 Command Posts in Capital Supremacy on Felucia to get the Kenobi! Emote for Maul
- Achieve Serenity (from 8th): Perform 20 eliminations with Yoda’s lightsaber to get the Yoda Serenity Victory Pose
- Old Rivalry (from 10th): Perform 20 eliminations with Darth Maul’s lightsaber to get the Kenobi voice line for Maul
- Wisdom and Experience (from 12th): Perform 20 buffs as Yoda to get the Trust you Not voice line for Yoda
- Fast Spawn (13th-16th): Faster Spawn rate is now enabled across all modes
- I said it First (from 14th): Hit 20 enemies with Claw Rush as General Grievous to get the Hello there voice line for General Grievous
- Crush and Destroy (from 16th): Eliminate 20 opponents with General Grievous’ lightsaber to get the General Grievous Duelist Victory Pose
- Free your Rage (from 18th): Choke 20 opponents as Darth Maul to get the Darth Maul Vigilant Victory Pose
- 50% Battle Point Reduction (20th-23rd): All units now cost 50% less Battle Points
- Learn the ways of the Force (from 20th): Knock over 25 enemies with Luke Skywalker’s Repulse ability to get the Farmboy Luke Appearance
- For the Republic (from 21st): Eliminate 20 enemies with Obi-Wan Kenobi’s lightsaber to get the Body and Mind Victory Pose
- Old Enemy (from 22nd): Push Enemies with Obi-Wan Kenobi 20 times to get the Maul voice line
- May the Force be with You (from 23rd): Hit 15 opponents with Leia’s alternate fire to get the Princess Leia Appearance.
  - All challenges will be active from the 23rd.
- Triple XP (24th-January 6): x3 experience is enabled across all game modes

- Double XP Event: Jedi: Fallen Order (15th-18th): Earn double the amount of experience as usual in all game modes in celebration of the release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
- Fast Spawn Event: Hero Starfighters & Starfighter Assault (22nd-25th): The spawn timer in Hero Starfighters and Starfighter Assault is reduced to one second, allowing for nearly instantaneous and immediate spawning after being eliminated. Additionally, players can earn triple the amount of experience as usual in these modes.
- Battle Point Event: Boots on the Ground With Vehicles (Nov. 29th-Dec. 2nd): Only the standard trooper classes—Assault, Heavy, Officer, and Specialist—special units, and vehicles are playable, with heroes disabled, in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy.

October 2019:^[11]
- Midweek XP Boost: Earn double the amount of experience as usual in all game modes every Wednesday of the month.
- Battle Point Event: Boots on the Ground (Fast Spawn Edition) (4th–6th): Only the standard trooper classes—Assault, Heavy, Officer, and Specialist— and special units are playable, with heroes and vehicles disabled, in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy. Furthermore, the spawn timer is reduced, allowing for quick and near-instantaneous respawning.
- Triple XP (11th–13th?):^[12] Due to an unforeseen delay^[12] of the Community Quests (originally 11th–18th), Triple XP has been enabled, which lasted the weekend as other limited time events.
- Community Quests (16th–23rd): Eliminate 150 AI enemies in Co-Op to unlock the Farmboy Luke Skywalker Appearance and capture 50 Command Posts in Capital Supremacy on Felucia: Tagata to unlock the "KENOBI!" emote for Darth Maul
- Battle Point Event: Heroes Unleashed (18th–20th): Battle Point costs for heroes are reduced by 75% and up to nine heroes for each side (eighteen heroes total) can spawn simultaneously in all phases of Galactic Assault or four heroes for each side (eight heroes total) in Capital Supremacy.
- Halloween Event (23rd–31st): Return to Endor for Ewok Hunt set on a revamped map and earn double XP in all game modes.

- Midweek XP Boost: Earn double the amount of experience as usual in all game modes every Wednesday of the month.
- Battle Point Event: Resources and Vehicles (6th–8th): Battle Point costs for reinforcements and vehicles are reduced by 75% in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy.
- Battle Point Event: Boots on the Ground (13th–15th): Only the standard trooper classes—Assault, Heavy, Officer, and Specialist— and special units are playable, with heroes and vehicles disabled, in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy.
- Battle Point Event: No Match For A Good Blaster (20th–22nd): Only heroes that use blasters can be played in Heroes vs. Villains.
- Triple XP Event: Co-Op (27th–29th): Earn triple the amount of experience as usual in the new Co-Op game mode (later changed to all game modes).

- Double XP Wednesday: Earn double the amount of experience as usual in all game modes every Wednesday of the month.
- Battle Point Event: Reinforcements (2nd–4th): Battle Point costs for Reinforcements are reduced by 75% in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy.
- Battle Point Event: Vehicles (9th–11th): Battle Point costs for vehicles are reduced by 75% in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy.
- Heroes Unleashed (16th–18th): Battle Point costs for heroes are reduced by 75% and up to eight heroes for each side (sixteen heroes total) can spawn simultaneously in all phases of Galactic Assault or four heroes for each side (eight heroes total) in Capital Supremacy.
- Gamescom Triple XP Event (20th–25th): Earn triple the amount of experience as usual in all game modes in celebration of Gamescom 2019.
- Elegant Weapons (August 30–September 1): Only heroes that wield lightsabers can be played in Heroes vs. Villains.

July 2019:^[15]
- Double XP Wednesday: Earn double the amount of experience as usual in all game modes every Wednesday of July.
- Clone Wars Community Quests (July 11–August 11): Weekly community quests to unlock new animated victory poses and VO lines for Clone Wars heroes all month long.
  - Darth Maul (11th–20th): Eliminate enemies with Darth Maul to unlock "Vigilant" victory pose and choke enemies with Choke Hold ability to unlock "Kenobi" voice line.
  - Obi-Wan Kenobi (18th–27th): Eliminate enemies with Obi-Wan Kenobi to unlock "Body and Mind" victory pose and use All-Out Push ability against enemies to unlock "Maul" voice line.
  - General Grievous (July 25–August 4): Eliminate enemies with General Grievous to unlock "Grievous Dualist" victory pose and hit enemies with Claw Rush ability to unlock "Hello There" voice line.
  - Yoda (August 1–August 11): Eliminate enemies with Yoda to unlock "Serenity" victory pose and heal allies with Presence ability to unlock "Trust You Not" voice line.

- EA Play Triple XP Weekend (7th–10th): Earn triple the amount of experience as usual in all game modes in celebration of EA Play 2019.
- Battle Point Event: Reinforcements & Vehicles (14th–17th): Battle Point costs for Reinforcements and vehicles are reduced by 75% in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy.
- Heroes Unleashed (21st–24th): Battle Point costs for heroes are reduced by 75% and up to eight heroes for each side (sixteen heroes total) can spawn simultaneously in all phases of Galactic Assault.
- Triple XP Weekend: Capital Supremacy (June 28–July 1): Earn triple the amount of experience in Capital Supremacy.

- May the Fourth Be With You Limited Event (1st–6th): Capture 4 million Command Posts as a collective community to unlock the Princess appearances for Leia Organa as she appears in A New Hope.
- Fast Spawn Event: Blast and Strike (10th–12th): The spawn timer in Blast and Strike is reduced to one second, allowing for nearly instantaneous and immediate spawning after death.
- Foot Soldiers (17th–19th): Ground and aerial vehicles are disabled in Galactic Assault and Capital Supremacy, meaning only troopers, Reinforcements, and heroes can be played. Additionally, the Battle Point costs for Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Maul are reduced to 200 in celebration of the 20th anniversary of The Phantom Menace.
- Increased XP Weekend: Heroes & Starfighters (24th–26th): Earn double the amount of experience as usual in Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Showdown for leveling up heroes and triple the amount of experience as usual in Starfighter Assault and Hero Starfighters for leveling up starfighters.

- Battle Point Event: Reinforced Armies (5th–7th): Battle Point costs for Reinforcements are reduced by 75% in Galactic Assault, Capital Supremacy, Blast, and Strike.
- Double XP Event: Star Wars Celebration (12th–14th): Earn double the amount of experience usually earned in all game modes for leveling up classes and heroes to celebrate the Star Wars Celebration convention and the announcement of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order™.
- Fast Spawn Event: Capital Supremacy and Galactic Assault (19th–21st): The spawn timer in Capital Supremacy and Galactic Assault is reduced to one second, allowing for nearly instantaneous and immediate spawning after death.
- Triple XP Weekend (26th–28th): Earn triple the amount of experience as usual in Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Showdown for leveling up heroes.

- Map Rotation: The Chosen One (1st–3rd): Map rotations will only have Clone Wars-era maps in conjunction with the release of Anakin Skywalker, the 501st Legion, the Coruscant Guard, and updates to the previously released Clone Trooper Appearances.
- Fast Spawn Event: Blast and Strike (8th–10th): The spawn timer in Blast and Strike is reduced to one second, allowing for nearly instantaneous and immediate spawning after death.
- Triple XP Weekend: Starfighters (15th–17th): Earn three times the amount of experience as usual in Starfighter Assault and Hero Starfighters for leveling up starfighters.
- Double XP: All Modes (22nd–24th): Earn double the amount of experience usually earned in all game modes for leveling up classes and heroes.
- New Mode Triple XP (29th–31st): Earn three times the amount of experience usually earned in Capital Supremacy for leveling up all units.

- Battle Point Event: Heroes (January 31–February 3): Battle Point costs for heroes in Galactic Assault are reduced by 50%.
- Battle Point Event: Reinforcements (8th–10th): Battle Point costs for Reinforcements are reduced by 50% in Galactic Assault.
- Night Ops Event (15th–17th): Map rotations in all game mode will only include nighttime maps. The spawn timer in Assault modes will be removed and double XP can be earned.
- Battle Point Event: Vehicles (22nd–24th): Battle Point costs for vehicles are reduced by 50% in Galactic Assault.

- Triple XP Event: Heroes and Events (4th–6th): Earn three times the amount of experience as normal in Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Showdown for hero progression.
- Triple XP Event: Troopers (11th–13th): Earn three times the amount of experience as normal in Strike and Blast for trooper and Reinforcements progression.
- Triple XP Event: Starfighters (18th–20th): Earn three times the amount of experience as normal in Starfighter Assault and Hero Starfighters for starfighter and hero ship progression.
- Battle Point Event: Eras (25th–27th): Battle Point costs for era-appropriate heroes in Galactic Assault are reduced by 50%, and non-era heroes are unavailable.

2018

December 2018:^[22]
- Heroes Unleashed (14th–16th): Battle Point costs for heroes are reduced by 75% and all eight heroes can spawn simultaneously in all phases of Galactic Assault.
- Life Day Event (17th–27th): Battle Point costs for heroes, vehicles, and reinforcements are decreased by 25% in Galactic Assault and XP earned is increased by 50% in all modes. Additionally, the front end theme of the menu will change every few days, focusing on different locations, eras, and heroes.
- New Years Event: Power! Unlimited Power! (28th–January 1): In Galactic Assault, all 9 heroes for both Light Side and Dark Side factions are able to spawn simultaneously with battle point costs reduced by 75% for heroes, vehicles, and reinforcements. The spawn timer is also temporarily removed.

November 2018:^[23]
- Clone Wars-Era Playlist: A dedicated playlist featuring only Clone Wars maps for Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Showdown can be found on the front menu in celebration of the release of General Grievous.
- Fast Spawn Event: The spawn timer in Strike and Blast is reduced to zero seconds, allowing for nearly instantaneous and immediate spawning after death.
- Heroes Unleashed: Battle Point costs for heroes are reduced by 75% and all eight heroes can spawn simultaneously in all phases of Galactic Assault.
- Vehicles Weekend: Battle Point costs for Vehicles are reduced by 75%.
- Geonosis Playlist: A dedicated playlist for Galactic Assault featuring only the Geonosis map for the first five days of the Battle of Geonosis Update, celebrating the release of Geonosis.
- Double XP: Earn double the experience (XP) for leveling up classes and heroes.

October 2018:^[24]
- Heroes Unleashed: Battle Point costs for heroes are reduced by 75% and all eight heroes can spawn simultaneously in all phases of Galactic Assault.
- Fast Spawn Event: The spawn timer in Galactic Assault and Strike is reduced to one second, allowing for almost instantaneous and immediate spawning after death.
- Reinforcements Battle Points Event: Battle Point costs for Reinforcements are reduced by 75% and the number of Special Units that can be spawned at once is increased.
- Halloween Event: The map rotation only includes dark, nighttime maps based on Mos Eisley, Endor, Kashyyyk, Naboo, Kamino, Death Star II, and Jabba's Palace.
- Double XP: Earn double the experience (XP) for leveling up classes and heroes.
- Clone Wars-Era Playlist: A dedicated playlist featuring only Clone Wars maps for Heroes vs. Villains and Hero Showdown can be found on the front menu in celebration of the release of General Grievous.
