The Squad Shield is an item in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront and Star Wars Battlefront II that, when deployed, creates a stationary energy shield around a small area, protecting it from incoming blaster fire and lobbed projectiles. In both games, after withstanding a certain amount of fire, the shield will collapse and the item is destroyed.
Star Wars Battlefront[]
Overview[]
Available to be found on the battlefront as a Power Up in Battlefront, the Squad Shield is a portable energy shield that protects users from blaster fire and other energy weapons.
The shield projects a translucent spherical barrier around the player when deployed. When activated, it is capable of absorbing and negating blaster fire (excluding the Cycler Rifle and Scatter Gun). The shield can only absorb a limited amount of damage. In the event that either the shield takes too much fire, the inner generator is destroyed, or a new shield is placed, the inner generator will erupt into a small explosion, causing the shield to retract and rendering the shield useless.
Behind the scenes[]
When the game was first released, the shield used to allow any kind of explosive to pass through in addition to "kinetic" weapons. This largely decreased the effectiveness of the Squad Shield and was later changed to only allow the latter to phase through the shield, while grenades and other explosives would either bounce off the shield or explode upon contact.

Star Wars Battlefront II[]
- "A portable energy shield that protects users from blasters and other energy weapons."
- — In-game description
The Squad Shield is an Ability Card for the Officer class in DICE's Star Wars Battlefront II that can be unlocked for 1 Skill Point starting when the Officer class has been leveled up to Level 10.
Overview[]
This ability allows the Officer to deploy a small shield dome that can protect allies or an objective from blaster fire and explosives. At Epic rarity, the shield can have a maximum of 1,400 health. After the shield's health is drained, the shield dome collapses and the ability goes into cooldown. While the shield is up, any damage the shield sustains is not regenerated. It can be manually destroyed by the Officer by holding down the deploy button again.
Strategy[]
Because the shield does not regenerate any damage it takes, if the shield health is almost drained and there are no enemies around, it is smart to manually destroy the shield so a new one can be deployed at full health.
Although it can be helpful to deploy a Squad Shield at a control point to allow allies to avoid blaster fire from enemies, it can also be a detriment if deployed in active combat. A poorly placed Squad Shield can block your allies from shooting enemies surrounding the objective area.

Trivia[]
- Leia Organa has an upgraded Squad Shield that has 3,000 base health. If both shields are deployed so they overlap each other, both shields may potentially give up to 4,400 extra protection from blaster fire in the overlapping area.
